    Hi Cathy!

I practice anything I can find : ) Still have yet to take a Forrest Yoga class which I'm really looking forward too. I'd like to learn more about Kundalini Yoga but I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet.

I teach a Fusion of Vinyasa & Iyengar.. which are sort of Polar opposites in terms of how fast they move but that's the best I can describe what I teach. I also teach something to the effect of Yin but I'm not "Yin" trained and have never taken an immersion with Paul Grilley. It's a very very slow moving class that was comprised of forward folding (seated and standing) with emphasis on anatomy. Then the postures were held for 3 minutes each, sometimes a bit longer. I didn't know if I'd enjoy teaching a slower class, it was something the studio operators asked if I would do. Ended up being the class I most looked forward to teaching every week. I loved the slowness and mindfulness of it.

I practice Vinyasa and Iyengar. Love both. Love my teachers for both. I'm not sure I know what Wave Yoga is. Please share!!

      thanks Katrina

      I created it.

It is a freeform yoga swirling writhing from good yoga postures.

If I were a better typist or if tribe didnt log me out i o=woudl say more.

just try a good yog a posture.. and then slither and wiggle in it a bi twith NO movement which might injure you.

      with music

        Hi Cathy,
I like to practice to Enya.
My background is in Iyengar Yoga with thousands of classes over many years. I practice every day and occasionally teach Iyengar yoga.
I have taken many classes in several other styles of yoga and enjoyed most.
Currently I also have a regular acroyoga practice with a friend. I love it.

    The decisions have been made.
    The materials are in hand.
    Thinking subsides.
The time for action is now.
    Music plays in the background.
    (Pink Floyd from 1969).
The sound of sandpaper against wood is my mantra.
    I stand up, I breathe.
I find the best position for the task at hand.
    The mantra begins again.
    A thousand repetitions.
What do I have to show for it?
    The beauty that remains,
    Ultimately is also ephemeral.
    Game time. Time to rest.

I love practicing Vinyasa, Yin and Yang yoga. I was trained in Iyengar and practice that as well. I love teaching Vinyasa these days and with beginners, I stick to Iyengar for the foundations and alignment.

        Me?
I study practice and teach Buddhist tantra.
Began studying in 1980, with Highest yoga tantra empowerment in the Sakya school. Have comprehensive transmission for both the Nyingma / Great Perfection and Kagyu / Mahamudra cycles of tantra.

Did ten thousand hours of Buddhist mantra, plus tons of very technical pranayama.
Have over sixty direct teachers, including at least three who are gurus To HH The Dalai Lama.
First gave Padmasambhava empowerment in 1992, have about sixty mantras for Padmasambhava, many from HH Dilgo Khyentse.

My mainly Buddhist sadhana includes various other practices, including some tai chi, some internal kung fu, and a very strong emphasis on 3H0 Sikh kundalini yoga, for which I have several White Tantric transmissions from the late S.S.S. Yogi Bhajan.

A very accessible, practical, and inspiring introduction to Great Perfection Buddhist yoga ( & mysticism & shamanism and theoretical framework and personal experience ) is the book "The Crystal and The Way Of Light", by Namkhai Norbu. This wonderful guru has established centers in many parts of the world.

My sadhana practice text collection ( Buddhist and otherwise ) is vast, irreplaceable, and world class. You won't find anything near as good in any western collection, even in the British Library or the Oxford Bodleian Library. I am a Buddhist liturgical scholar.

In terms of asana practice, I've attended exactly one yoga class, which I didn't particularly care for. I've learned practically all of the asanas that I practice from the Iyengar book, Light On Yoga, but I don't think I can say that I practice Iyengar yoga. In my view, asanas are a means to an end. I try to incorporate yoga into my daily life, but don't always succeed. Sometimes I get caught up in the cittta-vrtti, and that's not yoga.

Actually I have been trying to follow the type of yoga described in the yoga sutras and samkhya texts, hence the name samkhya-yoga. But there is only one samkhya-yoga ashram in India, and chances are I wouldn't go along with everything anyway. So I've been trying to rediscover this unadulterated yoga through study and meditation. But this is going to be a lengthy process. In time I will be writing more about the practice aspect, but at present I do not believe I have mastered it sufficiently.
