Hmmm... Anyone experience this?

"Another year, another batch of resolutions: eat right, exercise more, pay bills on time etc. All good in theory, but potentially dull in practice.

"In 2009, then, resolve to have better sex. According to a recent review article in the Dec. 3 issue of The Journal of Sexual Medicine, sexually unsatisfied women who practiced the Eastern techniques of mindfulness and yoga reported improvements in levels of arousal and desire, as well as better orgasms. In addition, yoga has been found to effectively treat premature ejaculation in men."

    Yes, I have experienced it.

I know that there are good arguments that the real yoga is not related to sexuality, but I've found that it has increased the joy and harmony of my sex life tremendously.

I see it as the practice of hatha yoga (including pranayama and meditation) teaching one how to transform energies within the body to higher and higher states.

My experience and intuition has been that in women who are sexually unsatisfied, and men who are premature ejaculators, there is a failure of energy to reach a higher level - which is the experience of expanded orgasmic potential.

When one experiences this expanded potential, there is even the opportunity to realize it outside of the sexual realm - for it is actually an emotional/spiritual phenomenon. This phenomenon can be applied to sex, exercise, business, difficult relationships, making music, and practically anything you can think of.

At least that's how I've experienced it.

This seems intuitively correct to me, although I am in no position to judge -- I started doing yoga before I began having sex, so I don't have any "before and after" comparison. And I'm not willing to do the reverse experiment -- quitting yoga to see if that results in less satisfactory sex.

I would think that any investment of time, energy or money in anything (yoga or otherwise) for perceived personal growth would appear to benefit them sexually.

A more interesting study might be to see how varying levels of sexual activity affected one's yoga practice. Maybe then we could begin to fine tune it by categorizing which particular acts had effects on specific poses. Ultimately we could come up with a manual of perfecting various poses by executing very specific sexual acts, and possibly this could bring one's yoga practice to a level that had never even been considered as being possible.

Is the Sex of yoga sexy?..... or sexual?

We may have to consider the Yoga of sex.
......or else go back to disco and Monday night football as the hottest thing around.

That brings up another very important research parameter - whether watching Monday Night Football, say for a couple of months, would make one's sex life more fulfilling ;-)

I would assume, of course, that football in general might seem like a pretty brutal activity to most here on this tribe, and from one perspective they'd be correct. But aside from the occasional broken bone or hurt knee, there's a lot more to playing the game than meets the eye - and to some it can be seen as a a highly developed art form.
