Further . . .
Below is the link for the allyoga tribe article on Avalokitesvara and Lama Mingyur's international tour.

http://allyoga.tribe.net/thread/9951a746-65aa-46f1-8925-3abd58fd2322

This is also a way to receive initiation for Vajrasattva practice.

As you can see, I am responding to questions on this tribe as well as posting articles/ event information. Thus this is a dialogue and not just "spam". It is also true that I posted the Avalokitesvara article on many meditation and yoga tribes.

But in all tribes, I am developing dialogue based on real teachers and classical functional yoga practices. Thsi is also true in the case of the Dalai Lama article, which I followed up on many tribes.

Re: What is your favorite mantra yoga? I do lots of mantras, mostly Buddhist

Mantra yoga is very different than focusing on English language words.
Mantra is Sanskrit syllables or words or phrases that work with energy and / or the "angelic realm".

Mantra yoga is basically Buddhist or Hindu. Most mantras taught in the West come from Buddhist sources of ancient India.
The two mantras most known in the West ( and worldwide ) are "OM", which is both Hindu and Buddhist, and
"OM MANI PADMA HUM", which is a Buddhist recitation for Avalokitesvara, along with the recitations of the Heart Sutra, which is used in many Asian Buddhist traditions. The Heart Sutra is originally Sanskrit, and I recite the Sanskrit, not the Chinese, Tibetan, or Japanese versions, although I could, I've seen them.

I completed ten thousand hours of Sanskrit mantra, and am a Buddhsit mantra yoga guru.

At my tribe home there is a picture for the written Sanskrit of Vajrasattva Hundred syllable mantra, with a detailed essay on Vajrasattva practice. I did 250,000 recitations of this hundred syllable mantra. This Hundred syllable mantra is standard in all the Tibetan traditions. It is one of the most important esoteric Buddhist mantras, and is used worldwide.

There is energy yoga practice associated with this mantra, and also pure awareness yoga practice. It is a comprehensive, classical, and powerful yogic discipline, not just a Sanskrit recitation.

Vajrasattva does require a formal tantric Buddhist initiation. These initiations are available in many countries, states, and provinces.

Best,

I find that the Hare Krishna mantra is my favorite as well, and I've read (and believe it) that the trees and plants, insects and animals, as well as our neighbors, around us benefit from reciting this. Lots of good vibes come alongside Krishna consciousness. I also like OM Nama Shiva which I sing silently or aloud to myself when walking through my city. And the Beatles song 'Across the Universe' is pretty special to me too. Blessed Be and thanks for the chance to share this!

Thanks Sam. Perhaps I used the term mantra where I should not have and am grateful. Please, perhaps in a new thread, discuss more about what mantra actually is and what using them entails.

This thread is simply about enjoying words. Words that as symbols speak to us in different ways on our path. Words that formulate our experiences of truth in the now - words are not static either, nor is our enjoyment of them.

This is now.

Peace!

Mantra is serious business for those who know about it and believe in it. The use of mantra has a long history, and if you understand mantra, you know it's not something you make up as you go along. Better to find out what the real deal is.

Sayings that help you remember what you deeply know. Ideas you'd like to practice more. Words that move you or provide comfort. Even images that help you in your practice. Words you put together or famous quotes. (I know that covers a lot)

Or simplify it to your favorite mantra/spiritual phrase.

I usually let go a lot with this one: Feel that you are always just where you need to be.

Something yoga taught me and I put into a mantra myself.

I'm really eager to hear these, and what they do for you. I love when we share stories!
