What would you say is the best way to wash your mat? Particularly if your essential oils spilled on it :) Other than wiping with warm water, I haven't ever washed a mat! Seems like quite an essential little tid bit on mat care. .. what else does anyone do for mat care?

Thanks!

If your mat is made of synthetic materials, like a sort of plastic foam, like most mats are, then you can wad it up and push it into a front-loader wash machine at the laundromat for a cycle or two of hot soapy water sloshing around it to get all the funk out. Let the wet mat air out and dry in the daylight sunshine.

i usually use a tea tree oil/warm water spritz and then wipe it really well on both sides.

but recently, since my hot yoga practice means lots of funkiness after a short while, i soaked it in a a small pool of water in the bath with some tea tree and soap [dr bonners peppermint] and then rung it out, wipesd it down, and let it air dry.

      namaste!
